How to Draw Butterflies

ButterflyI love to play with color, and two of the best subjects for creative use of color are butterflies and flowers. So this week on the blog, we’re featuring some tutorials on how to draw butterflies.

Since many of these tutorials are in black and white, your children can have some fun coloring their butterflies and making them beautiful.

I hope you’ll get out your art supplies and draw along with some of these artists.

 

 

Basic Butterfly Drawing

How To Draw A Butterfly – The Easy Way

This video is about 5 min. long. She starts out in pencil & then uses other thicker pens & markers. The artist’s approach is easy to follow and remember. Once your children watch this approach, they’ll be drawing lots of butterflies!

This one is a lot more detailed & involved. It’s done at high speed, so you’ll have to pause the video periodically to catch up. But your older children might enjoy the challenge of drawing this butterfly/flower combination.
