Love SEE THE LIGHT videos

Review by swing dancing mom (Posted on 3/5/14)

Both of my girls just LOVE See The Light! My older daughter's art skills are improving tremendously. My younger daughter started out frustrated with art, but because of your wonderful STL Art videos, she is able to do each lesson with ease & confidence! The Biblical element is also so wonderful to have incorporated into each lesson. We just had our homeschool Open House where all the families displayed their art & projects for the year. My girls displayed their STL drawings & when people walked by, there was all "ooohs & aaaahs"! :) Thank you for developing such a wonderful program that really makes a difference in the lives of so many!
In our case, Repeated Doughnuts!

SEE THE LIGHT produces top-notch, high-quality art instruction videos.
My daughter learned:
How to let each color dry between steps to avoid overlapping
How to make the colors stronger or lighter based on the amount of water in her brush.
How to recognize pattern in works of art beyond this lesson.
We liked most:
Very clear, step-by-step instructions lead the student effortlessly from one lesson to the next.
Pat K. is extremely charming, and my daughter felt as if she was speaking directly to her.
Art history of the featured artist is discussed in great detail. We spent a lot of time researching Wayne Thiebaud and finding other works of at by him.
Most importantly, at the end of each lesson, Pat walks the student through a Bible verse and how that verse relates to each stepin the project.
Our only disappointment in the DVD is that we didn't want it to end:)
Quality Art Instruction Right at Home

Review by Debbies Homeschool Corner (Posted on 7/15/13)

Throughout the 4 lessons, Pat K introduces the student to the work of Wayne Thiebaud, teaching about his life and showing examples of his work. She guides the student in producing their own piece of art, demonstrating every step of the process in great detail. She refers back to techniques taught in ART CLASS, such as shade and shadowing, but gives plenty of guidance to students who may not have used that series.
We found Pat to be very pleasant and encouraging. She is obviously very talented and loves to share her love of art with her students.
Personally, I used to do some oil painting, but techniques are so different for watercolors that I learned a lot!
She works slowly, so that the student can keep up with his/her own art, pausing the DVD occasionally.
Some of the sessions we just watched, then my daughter did her project afterward so that she didn't miss anything.
She really enjoyed the lessons! I think this is a great way to get quality art instruction right at home!
Detailed and Informative

Review by Cindy (Posted on 5/30/13)

Pat Knepley takes you step by step to create a watercolor painting in the style of American Pop artist Wayne Thiebaud! Pat's teaching style is easy to follow and she is very thorough in her explanation of the concept. She explained each technique so simply that even this challenged artist could duplicate what she did. I enjoyed learning more about Wayne Thiebaud, seeing some of his pieces and learning how to replicate his style.

The teacher in me enjoyed the lesson with the art. She used art terms and explained them as she used them so I never thought, "huh? what does that mean?" I also liked how she incorporated a scripture lesson so easily. God is, afterall, the ultimate artist!
Fun Project

Review by ourjourneywest (Posted on 2/19/13)

We had so much fun with Repeated Sweets! In four concise, step-by-step lessons we enjoyed learning proper techniques for using watercolors, while pop artists Wayne Thiebaud and Andy Warhol supplied inspiration. Our finished projects turned out beautifully and we can't wait to use our new skills with watercolors again.
Pat made watercolor painting enjoyable

Review by xxoomom (Posted on 11/26/12)

Painting with watercolors isn't easy, and I've always been reluctant to try it with my 10 & 12 year old. I wanted them to have a successful experience, and want to pursue doing more watercolor paintings.
Pat Knepley's teaching style is warm and encouraging. She gives clear directions. The camera work is excellent, which is hugely important in a drawing DVD.
My children were successful - so successful that we framed their paintings and are giving them to nana and papa for Christmas .
