Review by Greatly Blessed (Posted on 7/22/13)

Tiffany Window is recommended for age 10 and up, and Brianna is 13. I did not feel the material was too easy or too young for her. She absolutely learned new things from this video.

The DVD contains 4 step by step lessons, which each take about an hour to complete. Brianna was so excited after the first lesson, she began creating masterpieces for days on end.

I love that the supplies list is right on the back cover of the DVD case so we knew exactly what we would need to gather up before beginning.

The intention is for the lessons to be done once a week, so the video would be a week long course. My little art fiend couldn't even wait until I got the supplies to watch the DVD, so she watched the whole thing without doing any of the work. --Which turned out to be helpful, actually, and not a bad plan. Having the supplies could have been a distraction, and she gained an overall perspective on the process and the finished result. Later, she was able to watch the lessons one at a time, and work through them carefully.

When I asked Brianna what her thoughts were about the DVD, she said, "It was fun! I learned a lot about stained glass windows, like I didn't know how complicated they were. And I learned about the rule of thirds."
Perhaps my most sincere endorsement of this product would be to tell you that more of the Art Projects DVDs are near the top of the list of things I'm planning to buy for next school year. I just haven't decided whether I'm going to have Brianna pick a few of them or whether I'm going to spring for the whole 9 month program, yet. But I love that she is able to develop her knowledge and her talent in this area while working completely independently.
Learning that Lasts

Review by cardamon's pond (Posted on 7/21/13)

I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate the high level and quality of this DVD! Not only did my children create a beautiful pieces of artwork, but they were also exposed to new art techniques, art history, and most importantly, all of this was tied together wonderfully with applicable Biblical truths!

This is the type of learning that lasts! In fact, just today my kids noticed a stain-glassed window and asked me if it was a Tiffany window! We were able to observe the window and notice the coloring blending, the lead cames, how the space was broken up, etc. It was really exciting for me as a mom to see that my kids have fun, learned alot, and it stuck with them! I can't wait to get their pictures framed and up on my walls!

Pat, you truly are a wonderful teacher! You teach at a level that my kids can understand. Yet, you challenge them and then encourage them all at the same time! I just love how you gave the art project a "backbone" if you will, by providing the history of how the Tiffany windows began. Not only were you teaching the kids, but I was learning right along with them! My mother has quite a few of Tiffany style lamp shades and I had no clue of the history behind them! Now I do! ;-)
Didn't need me to be available :)

Review by Preschoolers and Peace (Posted on 7/15/13)

I had my 15, 13, 12 and 9 year old do this project.
The supply list was simple and short, which I always appreciate.
Master artist Pat Knepley walks students through each step, explaining and instructing clearly. I didn't need to be available to any of my kids while they were working on these, which for me is a great asset of the DVD.
If you want a project that isn't mom-intensive, then SEE THE LIGHT might be the art curriculum you need.
What I Liked

Review by Startsateight (Posted on 7/13/13)

The first thing that caught my eye was the break down of the lessons into 4 pieces, along with listing the time for each one. Just from that list you can see that multiple art techniques and theories are going to be included along the way.
The second thing I noticed was the materials listed right on the DVD jacket. This made it easy for me to prepare for the lesson w/out having to delve too deep.
I loved how Pat encourages the kids to use their erasers, to adjust as they feel the need because it is their project.
I liked the steps by step instructions w/ lots of positive encouragement made it easy to finish the project successfully.
We loved that it combined art history w/ the style of art chosen. It helped to feel more connected and have a better understanding of the style of art we were creating.
Praise for Pat Knepley

My daughter said, "Awesome!"

Review by hope'npray (Posted on 11/29/12)

We have tried three homeschool art curriculums in the past. None compare to See the Light.
Tiffany Window took my daughter beyond drawing to creating a unique piece of art in four easy lessons.
When we first saw the Art Project Tiffany Window preview, my daughter's were, "That is awesome." We both waited anxiously for the DVD and were not disappointed.
It took my 12 year old daughter approximately three hours to complete her project. We spent a lot of time in the decision-
making process.
What I ejoyed the most about the project was how Pat combined a biblical principle with art. She explained the analogy of an eraser with how God erases our mistakes when we accept Him as our Savior.
I would advise that you don't try to do all the lessons in one sitting. Better to do as Pat recommends - 4 lessons!

Awesome project

Review by homeschool mama (Posted on 3/24/12)

I found myself watching the dvd with the children and learned a lot myself. I was quite surprised with how well they did with very little assistance and they were very pleased with their finished masterpieces. When we held them up to the window, they actually looked liked stained glass!

The most fun thing is that I am finding that when my children spot stained glass lamps and window panes, they associate them with Louis Comfort Tiffany. Even my 5 year old tells me that's a Tiffany lamp!
Great lesson!

Review by schoolofsix (Posted on 3/23/12)

Great lesson! We loved it. Pat gave a perfect explanation of concepts and directions to assist the children in creating an amazing finished piece of art!
No one ever called me in for help except to show the finished product.
I learned so much. I never realized that stained glass was such an involved process and that Tiffany windows were such a beautiful form of art!
Shocked at how well the kids did!

Review by mama (Posted on 3/23/12)

To be completely honest, I was shocked at how well the kids projects turned out. They must have had a wonderful instructor! Thank you Mrs. Pat! My favorite part is that my kids have created a truly beautiful piece of artwork and they had fun doing it!
